It’s been a while since our last post. So, we thought it’s about time to get back to blogging. This time – let’s talk about the Eurovision 2009, which is due to be held in May, Moscow. The 54th Eurovison song contest is not so far away and we’ve already built an amazing collection of Eurovision participants song lyrics.

According to sources, 43 countries are due to take part ,  we should have pretty good show. On the same note, some new rules will be introduced for the first time. This includes a national jury.

It’s quite difficult to say what is legal and what is not when it comes to determine it. It’s illegal to publish anything that it is not yours. In other words, if you’ve produced a piece of text, let’s song lyrics, you can publish them without thinking. You know it’s yours and you own copyrights to your work.  So, whoever, will publish them again, it’s your duty to sue them for copyright infringement.

Anyway, but let me ask what’s legal today on the Internet? With a help of Google these days we can find basically anything. I know it has already gone too far. Limitless downloading has already done some damage to the music industry. Nonetheless, until today Google hasn’t done much to solve this problem. But what about song lyrics? Is it illegal to publish lyrics?

Well, according, to the copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code), which says: “Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.”
